CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The American Red Cross is helping a Reevesville couple after their home was destroyed Monday afternoon.
The Cattle Creek Fire Department first responded to the fire and contacted the Lowcountry Chapter of the American Red Cross to assist the couple with their immediate needs.
Volunteers provided the family with funds to help replace food and clothing destroyed in the fire. They also provided comfort kits, which include personal items to replace those lost.
Additionally, the victims received referrals to community partners of the Red Cross for assistance with their long-term recovery. In the meantime, the couple is staying with friends and family.
The Red Cross has assisted 758 individuals in the Lowcountry after home fires since Jan. 1.
