SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Part of a popular sculpture has been stolen from Azalea Park in Summerville. The artwork, "Follow the Leader" by Stanley Proctor, depicts five children walking on a brick wall with their dog.

The sculpture was reported missing on Aug. 23 when a passer by noticed it was gone and called Summerville police. The bronze piece that was stolen was the boy with a train conductor's cap on and his arms outstretched to balance himself as he walks the brick wall.

According to officials, the replacement of the stolen part could cost as much as $10,000. The full sculpture was valued at $36,000 in 2002.

Sculpture in the South, the arts organization that places and cares for the artwork in the park, asks anyone with information about the missing piece to call the Summerville Police Department at 871-2463.
