MURRELLS INLET, SC (WCSC) - A nine and a half hour standoff ended Thursday morning when Georgetown County sheriff's deputies arrested a 50-year-old man at his residence.
Sean Roy Johnson was arrested at 4357 Goude Street in Murrells Inlet for criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature for pointing a handgun at his live-in girlfriend.
The incident started Wednesday afternoon around 2 p.m. when sheriff's deputies were dispatched to Johnson's residence after his girlfriend called 911 stating Johnson pointed a handgun at her. She told dispatchers she was able to get away from the residence and Johnson was waiting for sheriff's deputies on the front porch.
Due to the information provided, sheriff's deputies made a tactical approach to the residence and found that Johnson was not on the front porch. At that point, deputies set up a perimeter around the residence, blocked off Goude Street and waited for the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team and negotiators.
After nine and a half hours of negotiating with Johnson, he fled from the rear of the residence and was captured by deputies between the first and secondary perimeters. At the time of the capture, Johnson was not armed and he was taken into custody without incident. No one was injured during the incident.
Johnson is currently being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
