Busy roads expected Labor Day weekend

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - If you plan on heading out of town for Labor Day weekend, expect to share the road with a lot of people.

According to AAA, more than 34 million people will travel at least 50 miles away from home over the holiday weekend, which is up nearly 10 percent from 2009.

The auto club predicts the national average for gas prices will range between $2.65 and $2.75 a gallon.

Prices for airfare are up about 9 percent from Labor Day last year.

AAA estimates travelers will spend nearly $700 over the weekend, also more than last year.
