Moncks Corner family displaced by fire

MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC) - Volunteers with the Lowcountry chapter of the American Red Cross were called to help a Moncks Corner family after their home was destroyed in a fire Monday.

The fire happened around 8:40 a.m. at 230 Linden Street in Moncks Corner.

The Red Cross provided the family, including two children, with comfort kits filled with emergency supplies, toys for the children and financial assistance to help replace the food and clothing lost in the fire.

Temporary shelter was also provided along with referrals to partner agencies to assist in the long term recovery of the family.

The Red Cross has assisted 777 individuals needing aid due to home fires in its seven-county region of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton and Jasper Counties since Jan, 1,  2010.
