CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Senator Lindsey Graham is making a stop in Charleston at 10 a.m. this morning, to help secure funding to deepen the Charleston Harbor and save jobs.
He is concerned Charleston will fall behind other larger port cities when big business ships start coming through the Panama Canal in 2014.
Graham says without the $3 million for the study the dredging won't take place.
The port employs more than 260,000 people across South Carolina. The state has a payroll of more than $11 billion and pays $1.5 billion in state and local taxes.
At 7:30 tonight, the Charleston Tea Party will host "An Evening With Senator Lindsey Graham." That event's at North Charleston City Hall.
Graham will also be our guest this week on Sharpe Focus, airing on Live 5 right after "Face The Nation" on Sunday.
