Crews respond to lunchtime fire call at downtown Charleston bbq joint

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Crews are responding to a popular barbeque joint in downtown Charleston after patrons there were evacuated due to a kitchen fire.

Mark Ruppel with the Charleston Fire Department said there were no flames visible from the outside of the Jim N' Nicks restaurant at 288 King St. He said he was heading to the scene to answer questions and survey any damage.

According to scanner traffic, King Street was closed at Calhoun Street and Wentworth Street until fire crews secured the area.
