North Charleston residents can track crimes online

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston residents have a new way to track crimes happening in their neighborhoods.

Police have teamed up with a software company to offer online mapping of the city's crimes. Once you type in your address, dots will pop up giving a description of recent crimes in your neighborhood and on what day.

The goal is to increase awareness and vigilance. You can also sign up on the website to receive e-mail alerts about crimes in your area.

The company offers the mapping service free to law enforcement agencies.
