NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police are Tuesday investigating a bank robbery in North Charleston.
According to police, the robbery happened about 9:40 a.m. Tuesday at the South Carolina State Credit Union at 6750 Rivers Ave.
Police say a black male wearing a long-sleeved gray shirt and khaki pants entered the bank holding a handgun. Witnesses described the suspect as 6'1" tall, wearing a wig, and say he appeared to be in his late 20s or early 30s.
Authorities believe the suspect could have also robbed the National Bank of South Carolina in Summerville back in July.
A K-9 unit from the Berkeley County sheriff's office was used.
This credit union was also robbed on Jan. 28. Joseph Marion Carter, Jr., 42, was charged with that robbery and Walter Rollins, 51, was charged with accessory after the fact.
North Charleston police are asking that anyone with information about the robbery call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
