DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Chinese restaurants in the Tri-county area are on alert after reports of at least six armed robberies in August. Police are investigating if some of the robberies may be related.

In at least three of the robberies, the suspects were described as being dressed in black with their faces covered. One of the suspects was described as being short.

Ivy Pan was counting cash at Pan's Super Buffet on Dorchester Road after closing the store on August 28, when two men came in through the back door. One of them had a gun.

"The bad guy come this way and point the gun to me, yeah," Pan said. "I think if I don't give them money, they're gonna hurt me."

Realtor Georgia Richard works closely with the Chinese community and is friends with many restaurant owners.

"They're really angry and they are frustrated because it's not just happening, it's been happening, and they're just tired of being victimized," Richard said.

Richard is advising restaurant owners to lock their back doors at dark and not to wait until they close for the night.
