Drowning victims identified after car goes into creek

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - 19-year-old Deangelo Holmes of Adams Run and 28-year-old Roman Holmes of Hollywood died early Saturday morning after their car veered off the road and into a boat landing in southern Charleston County, authorities said.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office, along with St. Johns and St. Pauls Fire Departments, responded to Penny Creek Boat landing off of Parkers Ferry Road around 5:30 a.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a car in the water. Once on scene deputies found a Blue 1988 Chevy Caprice fully submerged in the water.

Deputies were able to locate one of the occupants who told them there were two other people still in the in the car.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Dive team along with Charleston County Rescue Divers went into the water and located the other two occupants.

The survivor was transported to St. Francis Hospital in West Ashley by EMS with non-life threatening injuries.

The Sheriff's Office traffic squad will be conducting the follow-up investigation and there are no charges currently pending. This incident is being treated as an accident and no foul play is suspected.

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.
