Coroner identifies parents killed in accident that sends kids to hospital

PINEVILLE, SC (WCSC) - An accident in Berkeley County involving a family's SUV left two adults dead and three children with non-life threatening injuries.

The incident occurred at 7:20 p.m. Sunday in the community of Pineville. The SUV was traveling west on highway 45 when it left the roadway and struck a power pole.  Rescue efforts were hampered due to live power lines damaged in the accident.

Deputy coroner George Oliver pronounced the two adults in the vehicle, 28-year-old Iesha White and her husband, 29-year-old Michael White, dead at the scene.  Two children in the car were able to escape, and the third had to be removed by emergency crews. The three children ages 10, 7 and 6, were transported to MUSC. They have since been released from the hospital.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Berkeley County Coroner's Office are continuing to investigate the accident.
