WADMALAW ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - The man police believe to be involved with a shooting on Wadmalaw Island on Labor Day was denied bond Wednesday.
Rodney Coaxum turned himself in to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office around noon Tuesday and was denied bond in court Wednesday.
The Labor Day shooting near the intersection of Russell and Cherry Point roads left one man wounded.
According to witnesses, the suspect and the victim got into a fight, but the victim kept provoking the suspect. They say that is when the suspect turned around and shot the victim.
Witnesses said that when the victim got into the ambulance he gave everyone a thumbs up, signaling he would be okay. There is no word on the exact condition of the victim.
