CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Labor Day is past and the race for South Carolina governor is heating up.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Vince Sheheen on Tuesday challenged where Republican Nikki Haley stands on getting money to deepen Charleston Harbor.
Haley, in turn, asked Sheheen if he supports Attorney General Henry McMaster's filing last week of a brief supporting Arizona's strict new immigration law.
Sheheen later Tuesday was to pick up the endorsement of a teachers' group in Columbia while Haley is unveiling her first campaign ad of the general election.
The two want to replace Gov. Mark Sanford who could not seek re-election because of term limits.
