GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - Police are investigating a string of acts of vandalism within a Goose Creek apartment community that left several residents with fire-damaged cars.
According to police, three residents at the Shannon Park Apartments had to call in firefighters to extinguish car fires early Friday morning. A Toyota Camry, a Chevy Monte Carlo and a Saturn Vue had been doused in a flammable liquid and set ablaze, police said.
Fire officials agreed with the assessment, the report stated.
The owner of the Camry said neighbors woke her to tell her about the fire, but it had been hours since she had driven it. While interviewing the Camry owner, police were notified to the two other car fires which had also been set by an unknown person.
One of the victims stated she knew who was probably responsible and told police of a man who had been in a fight her the victim's brother since the man's release from prison.
She also said the man had threatened her several times in the past and he knew that many of her family members lived in the apartment community there, the report stated.
However, there were no sighting of the man in the area.
