MYRTLE BEACH, SC (AP) - A Tennessee man has been sentenced to life without the possibility of parole after pleading guilty to killing a South Carolina pawn shop owner.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported that 29-year-old Jeffrey Ray Jennings of Greenville, Tenn., pleaded guilty Friday in exchange for a life sentence rather than the death sentence prosecutors had initially sought. Jennings admitted killing 37-year-old Thomas Lane Holcombe at Thee Pawn Shoppe in Atlantic Beach.
Jennings pleaded guilty last year to killing Deran Marquis Jamison of Taylors in the South Carolina Upstate. Police say Jennings killed Jamison in 2008 before driving to the beach and robbing and killing Holcombe.
He was later captured in Tennessee.
