WILLIAMS, AZ (KOLD) - An Arizona wildfire has now grown to 927 acres after an increase in fire activity over the weekend, according to a press release Monday.
The Hobble Fire, as it has been called because of its proximity to the Hobble Mountains, is located about 18 miles northeast of Williams and slowly moving to the south and west of the mountain range.
Officials are managing the fire for resource objectives within a designated 58,000-acre area.
The Hobble Fire is likely to continue for several weeks. During this time, crews will take action to redirect the fire to keep it within the established boundary.
On Sept. 13, personnel monitored the scene for fire growth. With prevailing southwest winds, managers expect smoke to travel north of the fire site.
Archery elk season began in one of the state's game management units on Sept. 10, which is within the Hobble Fire Management Area. Officials are advising anyone setting up camp in that area to plan to move their site out of the range of the fire.
