Charleston police capture man allegedly in possession of stolen goods

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Police captured a Florence man who they believe received items stolen from a James Island home. He was taken into custody in Florence during a routine traffic stop, police said.

Police say William Joshua Bruton of Dorn Lane in Florence received goods stolen from the home, but did not accuse him of the robbery. Police did not speculate on how he came into possession of the stolen property.

According to Charleston police, one of the victims said she left the back door to their Portabella Road home unlocked to allow their dogs to move freely in and out of the house on Sept. 2 and then went to work.

When the two victims returned home, they found the door had been closed and that two guitars, two pairs of earrings and a charm bracelet were missing. The victims valued the first guitar, a Fender 5-string bass, at $1,400 and the second, an Ibanize ATK 4-string guitar, at $400. The earrings and bracelet were valued at $50 each.
