Hemingway clerk accused of stealing public funds

HEMINGWAY, SC (WMBF) - An employee at the Hemingway Town Hall has been arrested following accusations she stole thousands of dollars in public funds.

Investigators with the State Law Enforcement Division have charged Tammy C. Nobles, 48, of Hemingway, with embezzlement of public funds after she turned herself in to police on Tuesday.

According to an arrest warrant, Nobles is accused of stealing more than $15,270 in public funds to pay for personal bills while employed as a clerk at the Hemingway Town Hall.

SLED is investigating the case at the request of the Hemingway Police Department.
