COLUMBIA, SC (WCSC) - Two men from Philadelphia were charged Wednesday in SC federal court for a counterfeiting operation they conducted in North Charleston in August, the US attorney's office said.
Mamadou and Chernoh Jalloh were charged in an indictment that allege the two men were in possession of at least 15 counterfeit credit, debit and gift cards with the intent to defraud, US Attorney Bill Nettles said.
The duo were also allegedly in possession of equipment used to make more counterfeit cards while in North Charleston in August, Nettles said.
The maximum penalty the two men face, Nettles said, is a fine of $250,000 and imprisonment of 15 years, if they are convicted.
Nettles said the case was investigated by agents of the U.S. Secret Service, in conjunction with the North Charleston Police Department.
