NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A North Charleston teen was arrested and charged Friday morning with breaking into eight cars at an apartment complex after residents there caught him red-handed.
Glenn Richard Brown, 19, was arrested and charged with eight car break-ins at the Osprey Place Apartments, a police report stated.
Residents spotted Brown leaving the scene of one of the break-ins on a bicycle and tried to chase him down. When police arrived, they found Brown pedaling away with a resident giving chase on foot, the report stated.
The officer stopped the two men to sort out the issue. The resident told the officer Brown was the person who had been breaking into vehicles at the apartment complex.
When Brown's belongings were searched, the officer found the items missing from the car that the residents had seen Brown breaking into. Brown confessed that he had broken into that car as well as several others at the complex.
Brown then took officers to each vehicle he had broken into and detailed the items he had taken from each.
Brown was transported to the North Charleston Police Department and then lodged at the Charleston County Detention Center.
