Murder-suicide in Colleton County leaves two dead

YEMASSEE, SC (WCSC) – The Colleton County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that left a man and a woman dead in Yemassee on White Hall Road late Saturday night.

According to investigators 30-year-old Consuela Drayton and 33-year-old Terrance Kelly were both found dead in the front yard.

A friend of Drayton told deputies that she heard several shots coming from her front yard where both Drayton and Kelly were last seen talking. The friend's mother also went outside where  Drayton and Kelly were located, but when she came back into the house, that is when they heard gunshots.

The friend told authorities that after shots were fired, she saw Drayton on the ground and she was not moving.

Deputies say when they arrived at the scene they found Drayton with several gunshot wounds and she was pronounced dead by the Colleton County Coroner's Office.

Investigators also found Kelly on the ground with a single gunshot wound and a semi-automatic pistol near his left hand. He was also pronounced dead at the scene.

This shooting is still under investigation and deputies believe the incident to be a murder-suicide at this time.
