Berkeley County Schools to offer free tutoring

MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC) - Students attending Berkeley County Schools who also receive free or reduced cost school lunches may qualify for free tutoring.  Extra tutorial assistance in the areas of reading, language arts, and mathematics are provided outside of regular school hours by state-approved providers, and paid for through the Berkeley County Schools District's Title I Program.

Students from the following schools are eligible for the Supplemental Educational Services program this year: Berkeley Elementary, Berkeley Intermediate, H. E. Bonner Elementary, College Park Elementary, Cross Elementary, Devon Forest Elementary and Whitesville Elementary.

Information is available after Sept. 27 by contacting the child's school of attendance.  Space is limited.  Students are placed with a tutor on a first come, first served basis, so advance registration is required.

In addition, two free information sessions are planned for September 27 and 30.  At each session, families can learn more about the program and to talk to providers.  The sessions will be held at the following locations and times:

September 27, 6-7:30 p.m.

715 Highway 6
Moncks Corner, SC 29461
September 30, 6-7:30 p.m.
