ISLE OF PALMS (WCSC) - Ashley Taylor, who lives on the Isle of Palms, might only be a freshman at Charleston County School of the Arts, but she already has a movie under her belt.

Taylor plays Sherry Stalls in the new Rob Reiner film, "Flipped."

"It's been like an adventure and I'm really happy about how everything all turned out," said 14-year-old Taylor, sitting in her Isle of Palms home where she lives with her family.

Last spring, while staying with her family in Los Angeles, she went to an audition for a Reiner film.

Reiner is known for such movies as "When Harry Met Sally" and "A Few Good Men."

Before Taylor knew it, she was sitting in a room with the renowned director engaging in conversation.

"He just asked me where I went to school and where I lived and you know just kind of like the basic stuff and in my mind I'm like, 'Oh my gosh, I'm talking to Rob Reiner. Right now this isn't weird or anything, this doesn't happen all the time,' " Taylor said.

Taylor ended up getting the part of Sherry Stalls, a snobby flirt, in the PG movie about young love set in the 1950's.

"It was just a great environment to be around. You know on the weekends like the cast we'd all go bowling and you know go to the movies and hang out and stuff. Everyone was just really fun and really nice," Taylor said of the three weeks she spent filming the movie in Michigan last summer.

For Taylor's mom, Linda Schneider, it was emotional seeing her daughter on the silver screen for the first time.

"When I saw the movie in the theater I balled my eyes out. You know when you have a child who has a dream and a dream comes true it's incredible," Schneider said.

Taylor will appear in another film called "The Chaperone." It debuts at some point next year.
