CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A Florida man was sentenced in Charleston Tuesday on six counts of bank robbery.
The United States Attorney's office announced that Myron William Ernst, 52, of Ocala, Fla., was sentenced Monday to 137 months imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release. Restitution in the amount of $11,000 was also ordered.
Evidence presented at the change of plea hearing established that on Aug. 27, 2008, Ernst robbed the Regions Bank on Savannah Highway in Charleston. Ernst was arrested the following day in Myrtle Beach for possession of a stolen vehicle.
FBI agents then interviewed Ernst after fingerprints on the demand note left at the Regions Bank came back to him. Ernst confessed to robbing the Regions Bank, along with banks in Orange Park, Fla.; Hunstville, Ala.; Mobile, Ala.; Panama City, Fla.; and Montgomery, Ala.
The case was investigated by FBI agents and the Charleston Police Department.
