New Mount Pleasant Hospital to add more than 300 jobs

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) – A new Roper St. Francis hospital in Mt. Pleasant will open its doors to patients Nov. 1, but the hospital is hiring now.

Hospital officials gave a tour of the new Mount Pleasant Hospital Thursday and discussed cutting edge technology that will be available and the more than 300 jobs that will be added to the area.

The hospital is located at U.S. Highway 17 and Faison Road adjacent to Wando High School.

The Mount Pleasant Hospital has 85 inpatient beds, a 24-hour emergency room, home-like labor and delivery suites and is environmentally sensitive.

The hospital has recycled trees, native plantings to eliminate pesticides irrigation, natural lighting, recycled steel-doors and carpeting acoustic tiles. The cafeteria boasts fresh herbs and vegetables with two trained chefs.

Through the years, the size of Americans has grown and so have the machines needed for treatment. The new Mount Pleasant Hospital has MRI machines designed to fit larger Americans. The machine is bigger and quicker. A scan takes about 20 minutes compared to an hour for most other MRI machines.

The hospital will begin seeing patients Nov. 1.
