CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Tropical Storm Matthew has formed in the Caribbean Sea and it could become a hurricane by the end of the weekend.
Tropical Storm Mathew is located south of Jamaica and east of Nicaragua. The storm is moving at 15 miles per hour with 35 mph winds. The storm is expected to become a category one Hurricane by Sunday.
The early projected path of the storm takes it through the Caribbean, into the Gulf of Mexico and possibly up towards Florida. It is still too early to tell if it will have an impact on the U.S. coast.
By Tuesday, the storm is expected to reach the tip of Mexico, near Cozumel and Cancun.
