COLUMBIA, SC (WCSC) - A new poll of South Carolina voters released Friday shows Nikki Haley still holds a strong lead over Vincent Sheheen in the SC governor's race.
The latest Ramussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in South Carolina shows Haley with 50% support to Sheheen's 33%. Four percent (4%) like some other candidate in the race, and 13% remain undecided.
Haley posted a 52% to 36% lead over Sheheen last month. Haley's been well ahead in the race in surveys since June with support ranging from 49% to 55%. Sheheen has picked up 34% to 40% of the vote in those same surveys.
In another question on the survey related to immigration laws, sixty-nine percent of Palmetto State voters favor passage of an immigration law like Arizona's in South Carolina, higher than support nationally. Just 20% are opposed to such a law.
