WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police are looking for a man they say assaulted his ex-girlfriend at her West Ashley home, leaving her with bruises on her chest and a large cut above her left eye.
Rynell Davon Ancrum, 23, is wanted for assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
According to the police report, the victim's neighbor heard the victim screaming inside her Carriage Lane apartment about 3 p.m. Sunday followed by a "loud boom." Several minutes later, the neighbor went to check on the victim and found her holding a blood-soaked towel to her forehead.
The victim said she had been in an argument with her ex-boyfriend Ancrum, the report stated. The argument turned violent and Ancrum allegedly choked the victim until she passed out. When she regained consciousness, she tried to leave, the report stated, but Ancrum grabbed her by the back of the head and slammed it into the door knob.
According to the report, the suspect is homeless and currently living out of his white Cadillac DeVille. He is known to hang out at the BP gas station across the street from the victim's apartment. Police think Ancrum also frequents the Castlewood Townhomes and Ashley Oaks Apartments.
The victim was taken to Roper St. Francis hospital for evaluation.
Ancrum is 5-feet 10-inches tall and weighs about 185 pounds. On his left hand, the word "hustle" is tattooed; on his right, the word "forever" is tattooed.
