NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (AP) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is visiting the South Carolina to speak to a local chapter of the NAACP.
Pelosi gives the keynote speech on Saturday at the Freedom Fund Banquet of the Charleston Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
The banquet also features remarks by Shirley Sherrod, the former director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's rural development program in Georgia.
Sherrod was fired in July after remarks she made earlier this year were misconstrued as racist. She later received apologies from President Barack Obama and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack but refused an invitation to return to her job.
