LADSON, SC (WCSC) - A house fire near the intersection of Highway 78 and College Park Road in Ladson caused some traffic issues Thursday morning.
Firefighters were able to put out the mobile home fire in the 600 block of Dutch Fork Lane.
The fire occurred around 6:30 a.m. and no one was hurt.
The Lowcountry chapter of the American Red Cross was called to the scene to help the family of five, including three children, whose home was destroyed by the fire.
Red Cross volunteers provided the family with temporary shelter, financial assistance to help replace the food, clothing and shoes that were lost in the fire. Comfort kits filled with personal emergency supplies and stuffed animals for the children were also provided.
The Red Cross has assisted 878 individuals needing aid due to home fires in its seven-county region of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton and Jasper Counties since January 1, 2010.
