ST. GEORGE, SC (WCSC) - The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office sent a team of shooters to Albuquerque, New Mexico for the 2010 National Rifle Association National Police Shooting Championship held from Sept. 19-24. The team competed against 350 officers from across the US and six foreign countries at the event.
This year the DCSO team won First Place 4-man team in the Service Automatic Competition and placed well in several of the individual matches. Also, in the Tactical Police Competition (TPC) matches that were shot prior to the Nationals, Capt. David Moore and Lt. Kenneth Billings teamed up to take the overall 2-man team in the Patrol Division beating out several other teams from agencies around the country.
The event also offers attendees the chance to network with other agencies, as well as receive firearms training. The South Carolina Police Combat League paid the tab for the Dorchester County competitors to make the trip.
