3 suspects sought in Ravenel home invasion

RAVENEL, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is looking for three suspects involved in a home invasion early Saturday morning.

According to the sheriff's office, a resident reported hearing shots fired in the Davidson Road area of Ravenel around 4:30 a.m. Saturday. Deputies responded to the area and located both a husband and wife outside their residence. The victims were leaving for the hospital.

Deputies called EMS and both victims were transported to MUSC where the husband was treated for a gunshot wound to his hip and the wife was treated for an injury to her head. Both injuries were not life threatening and both were released from the hospital.

Deputies searched the area for the suspects, but did not find any. The victims told deputies that the wife returned home in the early morning hours and was confronted by three black males with their shirts pulled up covering their faces.

The victims told deputies that one suspect was armed with a handgun and demanded money. The wife gave the suspect money from her purse, but the suspect hit her in the head with the gun and demanded more money. She told deputies that they forced her to go inside the residence and they began searching for more money.

A short time later, her husband arrived home and went in the back door. Deputies say that what happened next is unclear, but it appears that a gun battle ensued between the husband and the suspects. The husband was shot in his right hip. The victims said all three suspects then went out the back window and fled on foot.

The sheriff's office is looking for three black males dressed in black.
