Orangeburg County driver killed hours after birthday

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WIS) - One man was killed early Sunday morning when his car ran off the road near Eutawville, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The wreck happened just hours after the man's birthday.

Troopers said the wreck happened around 2:20am on Garden Gate Road about three miles east of Eutawville.

The 52-year-old driver of a 2000 Ford Taurus was traveling west when it drove off the right side of the road, overcorrected to the left, overcorrected back to the right, ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree. The driver sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Toxicology texts are pending, and the accident is still under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
