Pedestrian struck by car in downtown Charleston

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police are investigating an accident that occurred around 8 p.m. Tuesday involving a car hitting a pedestrian in downtown Charleston.

According to Charleston police, the pedestrian was crossing Calhoun Street between Pitt and Smith Streets when he was struck by the motorist. The pedestrian was taken to MUSC.

The identity or condition of the victim has not been released. No charges have been filed in this accident.

The investigation is ongoing.
