Sub-tropical depression develops in Atlantic

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – Sub-Tropical Depression 17 has developed in the southwest Atlantic Ocean, just north of Puerto Rico.

The depression is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm then quickly move northeast and into the open Atlantic with no threat to land.  If it does become a tropical storm, it will be named Tropical Storm Otto.

The storm is moving at 8 miles per hour and has wind speeds of 35 mph.
