SC school police officer suspended after losing gun

MARION, S.C. (AP) - The police officer at a South Carolina high school has been suspended after he lost his gun at school.

Multiple media outlets reported that Marion High School's resource officer said he lost his gun Sept. 30.

Marion City Administrator Alan Ammons says officer Allen Elvis reported the loss to his captain as soon as he realized the gun was missing.

Elvis also is an assistant coach in the school's football and baseball programs.

Ammons says the city is offering amnesty to anyone with information about the gun.
