GEORGETOWN, SC (WCSC) - A sign that the ArcelorMittal plant in Georgetown is going to re-open is the start of work for about 30 maintenance workers at the mill. The facility was shuttered in July 2009.
The Georgetown Times is reporting that the workers will undergo safety training and will then start work on steel making equipment in anticipation of the restart of the mill. Another 20-25 workers are expected to join the first crew on October 18.
The mill is expected to begin production in late January.
