WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) – Charleston police have charged a 21-year-old woman with filing a false police report after she reported an armed robbery that police say never occurred.
Nicole Messina Silvia, 21, is charged with filing a false police report after she told police that an unknown black male had put a gun to her face and demanded money just before 8:30 p.m. Saturday while she was working at the Arby's on Sam Rittenberg Blvd.
Silvia told responding officers that the suspect was a passenger in a black vehicle that entered the drive-thru at the Arby's going the wrong direction. She said he opened the drive-thru window, put a gun in her face and demanded money.
Silvia told police that the driver of the car told the first suspect to put the gun closer. Silvia said she then opened the cash register and handed over all the cash. Silvia said the vehicle then quickly left the parking lot.
She was unable to get the license plate number, but gave police a vague description of the suspect and the gun.
Charleston police investigated the report and determined that the robbery never occurred and as a result, charged Silvia with filing a false police report.
