Goose Creek man charged with counterfeiting $10,000

COLUMBIA, SC (WCSC) – A Goose Creek man was charged in a two-count indictment alleging that he manufactured and passed $20 and $50 counterfeit Federal Reserve Notes.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said that Trevis Lamar Richard is believed to have manufactured about $10,000 in counterfeit currency in Columbia.

The maximum penalty Richard could receive is a fine of $250,000 and/or imprisonment of 20 years.

The case was investigated by U.S. Secret Service agents.
