Ashley Ridge High student arrested, another hospitalized after altercation

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) – An incident at Ashley Ridge High School sent a student to the hospital on Monday.

According to Dorchester District 2 spokeswoman Pat Raynor, a student accidentally bumped into another student during the change of classes and that student punched the other student, causing injury to his face.

Raynor said the victim fell and bumped his head and had to be taken to the hospital for tests and observation to determine the extent of his injuries.  He did not require surgery and was released from the hospital Wednesday.

According to Raynor, the assailant was arrested by the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office.  He has also been recommended for expulsion.
