DARLINGTON, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina troopers say a man is dead after a Darlington County deputy's cruiser hit him as he tried to help victims of a car wreck.
Authorities told multiple media outlets that 44-year-old Johnny Clint Floyd stopped around 4 a.m. Friday on state Highway 151 after seeing the wreck.
Troopers say the deputy was in a marked patrol car, but they haven't figured out if he was on duty or responding to the wreck when Floyd was run over.
The deputy's name has not been released.
