MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC) - In an effort to streamline management and increase efficiency, Berkeley County officials announce the transition of two members of its management team.
Chip Boling will take over the role of Information Technology (IT) Director. Boling has taken on the role of interim director since the retirement of Carole Grant in June. The IT department has experienced a significant increase in responsibilities over the past year, especially since Berkeley County launched its new website with upgraded public interaction features. Boling's organizational and management skills make him an asset to the increased demands of this expanding department.
Finance Director Kace Smith will assume the role of Deputy Supervisor. Under Smith's management, the Berkeley County Finance Department has helped the County present the most fiscally sound and balanced budgets in 18 years. Smith's financial expertise will be an asset as Berkeley County continues to grow.
Berkeley County expects no layoffs or furloughs in the near future. However, some employees are taking on additional roles, and only the most essential positions are being posted as job openings become available.
