COLUMBIA, SC (WCSC) - A North Charleston man was sentenced to 30 years in prison after being found guilty of committing several gun and drug violations.
According to US Attorney Bill Nettles, 35-year-old Shontonio Witherspoon was convicted on charges of distributing crack cocaine and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Evidence presented at the trial showed Witherspoon sold crack cocaine on two occasions and a gun in a third incident to an undercover police officer.
Judge Michael Duffy of Charleston sentenced Witherspoon to 30 years on each of the drug charges and 10 years for the gun possession charge. The sentences will run concurrently.
The case was investigated by agents of the ATF and the North Charleston Police Department.
