EDISTO BEACH, SC (WCSC) - A boil water advisory issued Tuesday for the Town of Edisto Beach has been lifted.
The advisory was issued due to damage to a water main that was replaced Monday. Officials from Edisto Beach Utilities confirmed all water testing came back with clean results just before 5 p.m. Thursday.
A boil water advisory is issued when water may be contaminated. Breaks in a water main or loss of pressure in the water system are the main causes of such contamination. Residents should heat their water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before drinking or cooking with it.
