SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - A Presbyterian College student and Summerville High School grad missing since late August was found safe Thursday night.

Stacy Drakeford, Clinton Public Safety Police Chief, told WSPA-TV in Spartanburg, SC that 21-year-old Eric Robertson was detained by authorities with ICE and U.S. Immigration and Naturalization as he attempted to cross from Michigan into Canada.

Drakeford said he found out about Robertson around 9:30 p.m. Thursday. He said Robertson was detained because he did not have the proper paperwork to cross into Canada.

Local authorities, several outside organizations and many friends and family members from the Lowcountry, had been searching for Robertson since August.

Robertson, a junior at Presbyterian College, was last seen back in August while on campus at the school. At the time, authorities said that they did not believe Robertson was a threat to himself, but suffered from mental issues and had disappeared before.

Agents from SLED, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and other agencies searched the areas around Presbyterian College for several weeks and continued to follow up on leads.
