Charleston police release sketch of armed robbery suspect

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) – Charleston police are looking for a suspect who they say robbed a man at gunpoint in the parking lot of West Village Apartments last Thursday.

The victim told police that he returned home to his apartment at 1645 North Woodmere Drive around 1:30 a.m. Thursday. As he parked his car, he noticed a suspicious person beside a nearby car in the parking lot. The victim told police that the suspect looked as if he was going to break into a nearby car.

The victim said that as he got out of his car, the suspect began walking towards him. The suspect brandished a silver revolver and pointed it at the victim, saying, "What have you got?"

The victim removed his wallet and tossed $80 on the ground in front of him. The suspect then told him to "Start walking."

The victim told police that as he started going back to his apartment, the suspect fled on foot towards the direction of Townhouse Village Apartments. A K-9 unit was used to track the suspect, but police could not locate him.
