CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – A North Charleston home was severely damaged in a fire Tuesday afternoon, displacing a family of five.
The North Charleston Fire Department responded to the residential fire Tuesday and the Lowcountry chapter of the American Red Cross was called to provide assistance to the family of five.
The Red Cross provided the family temporary shelter, financial assistance to replace food that was lost in the fire, comfort kits filled with personal emergency supplies and fresh t-shirts. Referrals to Red Cross community partners were also provided the family.
The Red Cross has assisted 1,005 individuals needing aid due to home fires in its seven-county region of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton and Jasper Counties since Jan. 1, 2010.
