CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Members of the Transportation Security Administration were in the Lowcountry Thursday showing off some of their four-legged helpers.
The TSA demonstrated some of their canine teams that are used to detect explosive devices.
Officials say the dogs are not isolated to just airports; they also work with buses, trains and ships. Officials say the security the dogs provide helps keep the ports open because they are trained to specifically detect odors associated with explosives.
The TSA has partnered with CARTA, AmTrak and the State Ports Authority. They say the dogs can be sent where ever they are needed.
