HOLLYWOOD, SC (WCSC) - Investigators in Charleston County believe alcohol fueled an altercation between two men that left one in the hospital and the other behind bars.
Deputies say Wayne Mitchell Sr. opened fire on a neighbor who was sitting in a car at Mitchell's residence. The two men were neighbors on Royal Harbor Road in Hollywood.
According to deputies, the victim had life-threatening injuries resulting from multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to the Medical University hospital for treatment.
Deputies found Mitchell at his home. He was arrested and charged with attempted murder. While at Mitchell's home, deputies also recovered the gun used in the shooting, a .22-caliber semi-automatic rifle.
Mitchell will appear in bond court at 10 a.m. Saturday. Deputies say there may be additional charges filed against Mitchell.
